Verse: Psalm 13:6
I will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me.
Singing is a big part of my personality. As a child, I was always vocal. Singing, shouting, cheering, crying, I was heard before I was seen in our household. What may have sounded like noise to other was pure joy to me because I was able to release all negative feelings, worries, or emotions into the air. When someone told me to quite down a little, I took that as meaning to just turn down the volume, not to completely shut up. To shut up is to quench the spirit and I was not about to do that. Noise was a special language to me and I knew it well, for it suited me. Happy or sad, I was able to communicate my feelings and get an instant release enabling me to move forward.
We live in a noisy world surrounded with a cacophony of sounds. Some mechanical, some human. Soft whispers and loud shouts, creatures singing and people talking all mixed together and happening all at one time. To us its noise. We become overwhelmed and simply ignore our surrounding so that we are able to cope with this disturbance of our own making. So,we turn to God to give us peace. Well He instructed us to make a joyful noise. Serve Him with gladness. Stop complaining and come before His presence with SINGING!! He wants to hear us sing to Him, honor Him, and to Praise Him. We are His sheep and He is the good shepherd that has always been there for us. Why can’t we sing? He wants to hear us. We always tell God what we want constantly. When are we going to give Him what He wants and deserves? He wants to Hear You SING!
Prayer
Dear Lord, You are the God of our salvation and the redeemer of our wayward souls. Forgive us for not following you instructions. We want to be in your presence. Help us to know of your joy through praising you, praying to you, serving you and to lifting our voices in song to you. Singing is a blessing to you and to me. Help us to embrace your power and capture your love that comes with the act of singing.
Amen
