Psalm 103:12 (NKJV)
“As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
Years ago, I had my very first encounter with a home interior decorator.
Now, I’ve never claimed to be an expert in design—but like most folks, I had my own casual opinions. So, I made an offhand comment about home décor… just small talk, really. But before I could even finish the thought, this decorator sharply interrupted me and shut it down quickly and cold.
The way they came across. Dismissive. Condescending. Snobbish, even.
They went on to explain that they had apprenticed under a world-famous designer whose name I instantly recognized. It was clear they weren’t just defending their credentials—they were basking in them. Bragging, even.
I didn’t take kindly to that kind of energy.
So I gave them a piece of my mind—a verbal tongue lashing, as they say.
Then I walked away.
But not long after, I felt a wave of conviction. I didn’t like how I handled it. And as fate would have it, that decorator had to pass by me again on their way out. When they did, I mustered up what little humility I had left, and simply told them, “Good day.”
They smiled kindly and said, “You as well.”
That could’ve been the end of it. But life has a funny way of bringing people full circle.
A few years later, I had to meet with that same decorator for another project. Let me tell you—my nerves were high. The memory of that first encounter haunted me. I just knew they’d remember.
And when we met again, they did look at me closely… Then tilted their head and said, “You look familiar somehow.”
I answered truthfully, “We’ve met before. But… it didn’t go very well.”
Without skipping a beat, they smiled and said,
“Oh, everybody has a bad day every now and then.”
Can you imagine that?
Here I was—still carrying the weight of my words, replaying my actions, rehearsing my apology—and they had let it go. Not only forgiven, but forgotten.
That moment taught me something deeper than any design consultation ever could.
It reminded me of how God deals with us.
Psalm 103:12 says:
“As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.”
God doesn’t just forgive us—He separates us from the guilt of our worst moments. He doesn’t bring up old dirt. He doesn’t hold our low points against us. He knows we all have bad days… and His mercy covers every single one of them.
So, if you’re carrying something today that God has already forgiven—let it go.
Because He has.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of mercy. Thank You for removing my sins so far from me that they no longer define me. Help me to receive Your forgiveness fully—and extend that same grace to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
