Verse: 2 Corinthians 4:16
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
No one told me that after you turn 50 years old that time seems to speed up and move swifter than before. In our youth we relish getting old enough to be on our own. We turn around and we are twenty. Young, strong in body and ready to take on the world. Not knowing that time is attached to everything we plan for ourselves. We think, “I’m young and I have time to do anything I want to do.” So we set out to meet our destiny. We grow our lives with careers, friends, persuading that special persons and beginning our families. Our lives are filled with hope and simply beautiful.
Another spin and we are forty with grand children. Our youth has faded away and a middle age person has appeared. Our bodies are telling the tale of sorted adventures, ware and tear with a slowed momentum. No one told me that keeping up with grandchildren is an Olympic event in itself. The direction of your life is intertwined with others a way that is stressful. Everyone depends on me, so where is my help?
And yet another spin, we are sixty, seventy, eighty, and our bodies really show a change. Joints pop and creak, that once strong back is saying “not today” and our vision of life need assistance. We thought that we would be young forever. The truth is that time on this side of life will deteriorate fading each day. Medical technology can replace just about anything you physically need. But what about that inner man. As we grow older are we focusing on strengthening that part of our being that is eternal? Although life challenges can weaken the body, our Heavenly Father renews our spirit day by day if we continue to put HIM first we know that our eternity is assured.
Prayer
Dear God, I thank you for setting priorities in proper order. At this time in my life, help me to focus more on you and less on me. Teach me to build a stronger relationship with you so that I can share the gift of salvation with others.
