Verse; Acts 3:25
“You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, “And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed”
Having a family is such a blessing. We love our kin for there is no others group of people that will understand our failings, love us from infancy to adulthood, and laugh about silly stuff until our stomachs cramp. We know just the thing to make each other laugh and we know when a touch or an embrace is needed to soothe our tears.
The matriarch of many cultures is the backbone and strength that gives life to the family for without her there would be no sons or daughters to carry on the family line. The family needs someone to teach the ways of God and to share experiences that will allow the children to grow strong in mind, body and formulate a strong spiritual foundation.
My grandmother was that person for me. “Mother” loved all of her grandchildren and with her love and patience, she taught life lessons that stayed with each child through adulthood. We knew respect and kindness. She taught us the essence of learning and working hard. She even taught us how to love our kin. We took care of each other and fighting was not permitted. The grandchildren learned to workout the problem, hug and kiss and run and play again.
I loved going to church with my grandmother. Sitting in church beside her meant that I would have to sit still and listen to the preacher and learn why she thought it was important to go to church every Sunday. I went to church to learn about God and the many way he love, protects and bless us. My mother continued this commitment to God. This was a way of life for my family. Putting God first. From generation to generation God blessed families and teaches us how to become the family he ordained us to be. It’s not by mistake that we pass down the lessons we learned from the bible to other family members. We are the seed of Abraham, and we are blessed to share the goodness of God.

Dear God, thank you for the love and support of family. You continue to bless us. Let us never forget your grace. Amen
